Sit back and ask yourself what is missing from your life. World peace? A new Ashlee Simpson album (seriously, what is she waiting for)? Or is it a life-size, light-up unicorn, bedecked and embellished with jewels and gems?
If it’s anything other than the latter then please accept my sincere apologies, there’s going to be very little in this article for you to get excited about.
Pegasus the unicorn was created by local dream maker, Caroline Kirkham, for the 40th birthday celebrations of another Manx local, Kerry Smith.
Following a flippant comment about wanting to arrive to her 40th birthday party astride a unicorn (a girl after my own heart), Kerry’s wish came to fruition when her husband Will Smith (not the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) commissioned the splendid steed and she rode into the shindig like a more modestly dressed Lady Godiva.
Aside from its inaugural appearance at the quadragenarian bash, Pegasus featured on Manx Radio’s Women Today broadcast, with Christy De Haven and Beth Espey both hitting the saddle for a live transmission, perhaps a first in the world of radio broadcasting.
Pegasus is now being auctioned off by Gef, with net proceeds raised going to Hospice Isle of Man. If you fancy owning this mythological wonder, then all you need to do is to place your bid in the comments below or email your bid to [email protected] . All bids will be monitored by Hospice Isle of Man and the winning bidder will be announced on Friday 21st December.
So whether you fancy being a little bit extra and arriving to your mum’s turkey dinner on the back of a unicorn, or whether you’ve got some questionable role play fantasy to be acted out in the confines of your bedroom, Pegasus has got you covered. And all in the name of charity.
